Vertical fan coil units (VFC) are a type of HVAC system commonly found in condominiums. The system consists of two main components – a fan and a coil. The fan draws ambient air from the suite and blows it across a coil that contains hot or cold water. The air is heated or cooled depending on the season and thermostat settings, then recirculated into the suite. A fan coil also cycles and filters the air in your home.

The average lifespan of a vertical fan coil unit is 20 years. Aging fan coil units can cause problems such as frequency of services, noise, leaks, flood, bad smell & overall inefficiency.

The Fan Coil Retrofit process consists of 2 major steps: 1. Mechanical Replacement 2. Mould Removal & Remediation. The process allows us to safely disassemble all the mechanical components & wiring during the removal process. Once everything is removed safely, we follow ECO level 2 guidelines to remove the existing degraded Fiberglass from your fan coil cabinet.
Every building has different needs & expectations. Our fan coil solutions are specifically designed to meet your building’s engineering criteria & requirements. This means we must follow certain procedures & protocols to ensure the best outcome throughout the life of the project. If you are planning to upgrade your fan coil outside the building program, then make sure to meet the necessary minimum requirement levels instructed by your property manager.
Our standards bulk pricing warranty is 3 years part & labour. Additional 2 year warranty can be purchased during the sign up process.
Our official project start date is on August 15, 2022.

Not all thermostats are equal and functionally not all are set up to handle 2 pipe fan coils with auxiliary heating, multi speed fans, and 24 V operation. The Contractor’s technicians are factory trained installers of the Honeywell and Ecobee thermostats. Installation of other branded thermostats would be considered outside of the current specifications and would require additional services and charges.
You can have 1 or 2 fan coils in your condo suites. Each fan coil is connected to a designated & unique thermostat.

For that reason, and after all technical considerations, the building has chosen Unilux Fan Coil Retrofits to be the specified manufacturer of the fan coils for the replacement project. Along with the heritage, Unilux presents a premium fan coil unit and sets the standard for others. Introducing other products and practices that cannot be controlled can undermine the entire heating and cooling system if left unchecked. “Upsizing”, fiberglass insulation, valve on valve plumbing and no mention of EACO Level 2 remediation are not specified practices.
